The Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees’ Association (SDA) welcomes the opportunity to contribute to this inquiry. We are pleased to submit the attached submission from the SDA to the Senate Inquiry into Intergenerational Housing Inequity in Australia. The SDA represents nearly 200,000 workers employed predominantly in retail, fast food and warehousing. Our members are often low-paid and award-reliant, and they are more likely to face insecure employment – conditions that increasingly translate into insecure housing outcomes across their working lives.
