Do you think that it’s unfair that 18-20 year olds are being paid as juniors, even though they are adults? We do. That’s why we are running ads all around the country to bring attention to this issue that affects thousands of young SDA union members.
You’ll be able to spot the ads at universities and TAFEs in New South Wales, Newcastle, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia.
So if you spot one of our ads, you’ll be able to explain to your friends what the campaign means and why it is so important for them to support our campaign too.
How is the campaign going?
We’re currently preparing for our case to be heard in the Fair Work Commission later this year. The Commission will hear from witnesses in October before hearing submissions from 25-27 November.
We’ll be putting forward our arguments to win the case, but employers and their lobby groups will be doing everything they can to oppose this change.
That’s why we need even more support to remove these junior rates that pay 18-20 year olds unfairly.
It’s not too late to support us!
While we wait for our case to be heard in the Commission lodged that doesn’t mean we have to slow down our campaign. We are still spreading the word and seeking as much support from our members and the community as we can.
So if you haven’t signed up to show your support yet, you can do so here.
And don’t worry, workers of all ages can join our campaign!
