India Atkinson from Woolworths Kings Meadows has been selected for the Australian Seniors Women’s Inline Hockey Team which will be competing in the World Roller Games tournament in Italy during September. India’s had a lifelong passion for skating, after being introduced to rollerblades at three years old. Now 29, she has been skating for the past 26 years and has competed at a national level since 2008, right through from junior Tasmanian teams to captaining the Tasmanian senior women’s team on multiple occasions, and representing Australia at the Oceanic Games, Junior Olympics and Senior World Championships.
The World Roller Games are held every two years and serve as the World Championships for 11 Roller sports, which includes Inline Hockey. The event is the largest of its kind and will see over 4,000 athletes from 115 countries taking part to determine the World champions in the respective disciplines.
