Dean D’Angelo
Dean has been at the SDA for over 10 years and in 2026 was elected as the Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.
His first job was as a storeman at a wine and liquor storage warehouse and he also worked at IGA in the grocery department doing evening-fill. Dean started at the SDA in 2015 as a Casual Organiser, working to grow the union and help members to resolve workplace issues. He then moved into the WorkCover team, representing members who had been injured in the workplace to secure their rights and entitlements.
Dean graduated with degrees in Law and Arts from La Trobe University in 2018 during which time he developed a passion for industrial relations and employment law. He was later admitted as a Lawyer and spent 7 years working as an Industrial Officer at the SDA, representing members in enterprise bargaining to secure improved wages and conditions and also representing members in cases against their employer. He has also driven a number of campaigns including to increase penalties for customer abuse and violence, and to introduce Workplace Protection Orders in Victoria.
