Susan Hudak is still going strong at the impressive age of 90! Not only is she still working full-time, she also celebrated being one of our longest-serving members, with an incredible 52 years of dedication to the SDA.

Susan’s journey began at Bretford Cotton, where she spent 12 years before joining Myer Doncaster in 1969. Myer was more than just a retail giant back then, it was a true department store with a supermarket offering bakery items, hot food, and fresh produce.

Starting in the takeaway department with tasks such as handling rotisserie chickens, Susan quickly adapted and embraced new responsibilities, eventually transitioning to overseeing the dairy and freezer sections.

Throughout Myer’s changes over the years, Susan remained resilient, embodying various roles and staying committed to her union membership, a value instilled by her father during her early career.

Susan’s mantra of ‘what you get out is what you put in’ has guided her unwavering dedication to her team and the union, shielding her from the redundancies that affected others she believes.

Her journey not only reflects her personal strength and commitment, but also the changing environment and demands of Myer’s workforce and the broader retail sector.

Congratulations to Susan on reaching this monumental milestone, serving as an inspiration to her fellow workers and beyond.
