Are you receiving your rest breaks at Grill’d?
Gordon Legal – backed by the SDA – has launched a class action on behalf of Grill’d workers who didn’t get their 10 minute paid rest breaks on shifts of 4 hours or more.
The SDA has received multiple reports alleging that workers at Grill’d :
- Did not consistently receive their paid 10-minute rest breaks
- Were told rest breaks were “optional” or simply not rostered
- Were misled on what a rest break is.
If you’ve been denied or misled about your break entitlements at Grill’d, you could be eligible for compensation through our class action.
If the class action is successful, compensation may be available to people who worked at a restaurant operated by Grill’d between Dec 2019 – Dec 2025.
This class action only covers stores operated by Grill’d Pty Ltd. It does not cover Grill’d stores operated by franchisees.

Your Breaks at Grill’d
Breaks are a right for all workers at Grill’d and they cannot be denied under any circumstances.
Under the Grill’d enterprise agreements, workers are entitled to:
- A paid 10-minute rest break when working 4 hours or more
- A 30 to 60-minute unpaid meal break when working more than 5 hours
- Unless a second meal break is given, two paid 10-minute rest breaks for shifts of 9 hours or more
A paid rest break means:
- It must be continuous and uninterrupted
- You are relieved of all duties during the break
- You must be paid for the time
- It must not be taken within one hour of starting or finishing your shift
These breaks are not optional, and Grill’d has a legal obligation to ensure workers receive them and are paid accordingly.
If you haven’t consistently been getting your breaks at Grill’d, you could be eligible for compensation.
