The Reject Shop Agreement

The Reject Shop is rushing workers to vote on a substandard deal before bargaining is finished.

After four bargaining meetings and a range of unresolved issues, The Reject Shop is now moving to put the proposed Agreement to a vote. The Agreement is rushed, includes cuts and locks in low pay.

Major outstanding issues yet to be resolved or agreed upon include:

• Wages increases and the quantum of any sign on bonus payment.
• Annual leave entitlements.
• Personal/carer’s leave evidence requirements.
• Public holiday arrangements (especially for Tasmania).
• First aid provisions.
• Other compliance and agreement drafting issues.
• The ‘scope’ of the Agreement. The Union continues to advocate for a proposed Agreement to cover Store and Assistant Store Managers. This is strongly supported by members, but TRS continues to exclude them.

The Reject Shop workers are covered by the Reject Shop Agreement. This is a legally binding document and your employer must comply with the provisions outlined in the agreement.

The Reject Shop Agreement sets out all of your pay and conditions at work. It is specific to the Reject Shop workers only. The Agreement includes:

• Breaks
• Penalty rates
• Overtime
• Rates of pay
• Pay rises
• Rostering rights

The SDA negotiates with The Reject Shop on your behalf to secure improved pay and conditions.

Before any negotiations for a new agreement begins, the SDA surveys members about what’s important to you at work.

Generally, a new agreement is negotiated every 3-4 years.
