Ben Harris

WA Branch Secretary

Ben started working for the SDA in 2009, having previously worked in the retail and warehousing industries. He organised workers in fast-food, retail and warehousing before becoming an Industrial Officer in 2013 – responsible for negotiating Enterprise Agreements and filing matters at the Fair Work Commission. In 2014 he was elected Assistant Secretary and has been an integral part of the leadership of this Union as we fought for and won:

  • improved wages and conditions at the bargaining table
  • better protections for workers facing customer abuse and violence
  • no further deregulation of general retail trading hours
  • the introduction of Easter Sunday as a public holiday in WA
  • paid family and domestic violence leave
