The SDA has secured the first-ever Enterprise Agreement for Jaycar workers.
Jaycar workers’ wages and conditions are outlined in the General Retail Industry Award. If approved by workers, this Agreement will replace the Retail Award and outline their entitlements at work for the next three years.
How SDA union members won the right to bargain at Jaycar
In 2020, workers at Jaycar in South Australia banded together with the SDA to improve their conditions at work.
More and more workers joined our campaign for change and in 2021, SDA members at Jaycar led the charge and lodged a Majority Support Determination at the Fair Work Commission to win the right to have a say on their conditions at work.
As a result of this application, Jaycar agreed to bargain for an Agreement to cover workers in South Australia.
Our efforts in South Australia then led to Jaycar agreeing to negotiate a nation-wide Enterprise Agreement to cover all Jaycar workers.
What began as a few workers in South Australia speaking up has transformed into all workers at Jaycar being offered better pay and fairer entitlements at work.
The proposed Jaycar Agreement delivers:
-
Better wages and higher wage increases that keep their pay above the Retail Award
-
Fairer rostering conditions
-
Ability for part-time workers to increase their contracted hours
-
Stronger leave entitlements
