Important information about the new Freedom Furniture Agreement

Following a ballot of Freedom Furniture employees, a majority voted yes in favour of the proposed new Agreement.
56% of eligible Freedom Furniture employees voted in the ballot with a 92% yes vote.
This is a fantastic outcome for Freedom Furniture employees as the Agreement will help ensure:
- Better wages
- Fairer rostering – for your work/life balance
- Improvements to leave provisions
- Increased Compassionate Leave
- Improved Paid Parental Leave
- Improved Family and Domestic Violence Leave
- New Delegates’ Rights
- Improved Casual Conversion and Pathways provisions
- Your hard-won SDA Union conditions
The proposed Agreement will now go to the Fair Work Commission (FWC) for approval. The new Agreement will commence 7 days after approval by the Fair Work Commission.

Freedom Furniture workers are covered by the Freedom Furniture Agreement. This is a legally binding document and your employer must comply with the provisions outlined in the agreement.
The Freedom Furniture Agreement sets out all of your pay and conditions at work. It is specific to Freedom Furniture workers only. The Agreement includes:
- Breaks
- Penalty rates
- Overtime
- Rates of pay
- Pay rises
- Rostering rights
The SDA negotiates with Freedom Furniture on your behalf to secure improved pay and conditions.
Before any negotiations for a new agreement begins, the SDA surveys members about what’s important to you at work.
Generally, a new agreement is negotiated every 3-4 years.
