David Bliss
Branch Secretary, David Bliss, joined the Union working for Grace Brothers at the age of 17.
He was appointed a Delegate at the age of 22 representing SDA members in his workplace on issues including uniform policy, unpaid overtime, and disciplinary matters.
Soon after, he commenced work as an Organiser, Industrial Officer and the Senior Industrial Officer of the NSW Branch, working with the Branch and the broader trade union movement to defeat the Howard Government’s WorkChoices laws in 2007.
David has been the Assistant Secretary of the Newcastle & Northern Branch since 2009.
David has represented the Union and its members for 25 years in enterprise bargaining with local, national and international retailers, fast food operators and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
He is eager to work with rank-and-file members and workplace Delegates to continue to fight for good, safe, secure jobs and he is committed to working hard every day to deliver fairer and better workplaces.
