This month, we are highlighting one of our passionate and emerging Delegates, Amanda from EG Fuel Belmont!

Amanda has recently stepped into the role of Union Delegate and is already making a strong impact, eager to grow union membership at her workplace.

Amanda has been a keen attendee of delegate training and is enthused to learn more and grow her skills. She has connected with other sites in her area promoting the union and offering advice and assistance to her colleagues as well as promoting the benefits of union membership. Amanda has also actively participated in events, assisting the union as a volunteer on Election Day.

Amazing work, Amanda! Thank you for being a strong voice and an outstanding union representative.

Check out what SDA Delegate Amanda values most about being a Delegate.

Why did you become a Delegate?

I became a Union Delegate as it was a great opportunity to become involved in assisting my colleagues in the work force with their rights. I have a strong passion for the union movement which was recognised by my SDA Official.

Why is building the union important?

Building the union is important for a strong collective voice. The more members in the union, the stronger our voice is, and the louder we are, when creating change in our workplaces.

What campaigns have you been involved with?

During my time as a Delegate, I have been making sure our voices are heard, most recently by encouraging my fellow team members to complete surveys and share their thoughts on what could be improved at our workplace to assist with the upcoming EA negotiations.

What has been your most notable achievement in your workplace?

One of my notable achievements in my role as a Union Delegate has been growing the Union across other sites as well as strengthening Union membership in my own workplace. I have enjoyed educating work mates about the power and benefits of Union membership in the workplace.

What have you enjoyed about being a Delegate most so far?

I have enjoyed chatting with work mates who are not yet union members about the benefits of becoming a member. I have enjoyed attending delegate training, and expanding my skills as knowledge is power. I also enjoy meeting other delegates from other work sites and businesses and sharing our experiences and learning from them.
