This month, we are highlighting one of our experienced and active Delegates, Susan from Bunnings Boolaroo.
Susan is passionate about representing her co-workers and understands the importance of a strong union.
Susan has mentored other union members to become delegates on site and other sites. She has been outstanding in her role in helping the union grow in 2025.
Thanks for being such an outstanding union representative at your site.
Discover what Susan values most about being a Union Delegate.
Why did you become a Delegate?
I became a Delegate to advocate for workers with workplace injuries, making sure they have access to the support, resources, and advice that I wish I had when I was injured at work.
Why is building the union important?
Building and growing the union is important as without numbers there is no push for change, no one to advocate and no voice for workers. There is strength in numbers.
What campaigns have you been involved with?
I have actively supported and been involved in the SDA’s ‘No One Deserves a Serve’ campaign, a national movement focused on ending the verbal and physical abuse from customers.
What has been your most notable achievement in your workplace?
My most notable achievement in my workplace is being the person who is not afraid to stand up and speak up about matters when things are not right.
What have you enjoyed about being a Delegate most so far?
I have enjoyed and felt accomplished when I attend meetings as a representative with members and walking out with a positive result.
