We asked Nicole some questions about her experiences throughout her time as a Delegate.

Why did you become a Delegate?

I became a Delegate to help my workplace and team members, ensuring they know and understand their rights.

Why is recruitment important?

As a long-term union member, I know recruitment is essential because if there are no members, there is no Union, and we are stronger together.

What campaigns have you been involved with and why are they important?

Throughout my time as a Delegate, I have been involved with multiple campaigns, notably, participating in the Unions ‘Take the Time’ campaign, where we travelled to Sydney to support fairer retail trading hours in NSW.

What has been your most notable achievement in your workplace?

My most notable achievement as a Delegate has been helping team members at my workplace gain permanent contracts.

What have you enjoyed about being a Delegate most so far?

Most recently, I have enjoyed representing members in my workplace at disciplinary meetings, with successful results, and furthering my experiences and knowledge as a Delegate.

What do you aim to achieve in your workplace in the next 12 months?

In the next year, I am aiming to recruit 100% of new team members in my workplace, introducing them to their workplace rights and the benefits of being a union member.

What do you get most out of the role as a Delegate?

In my role as a Delegate, knowing I’m here for my fellow team members, is the most rewarding, especially when it comes to rostering and contract issues.
