Our February Delegate of the Month pick is Alex from Woolworths Raymond Terrace North!
Alex is a superstar Delegate! He is reliable, responsive, and always answers the phone when his SDA Organiser, Lyn calls.
Alex shows up to any Delegate event and never lets you down! He is keen to expand his knowledge as a Delegate to assist his co-workers and better his workplace.

1. Why did you become a Delegate?
I decided to become a workplace Delegate because I enjoy helping my colleagues at my place of work.
2. Why is recruitment important?
Recruitment is important as it helps keep the Union strong.
3. What campaigns have you been involved with and why are they important?
At my workplace I have been involved in multiple campaigns including, ‘No One Deserves A Serve’, ‘Keep staff safe at work’, ‘100% Pay’ and making sure workers get a fair share.
4. What has been your most notable achievement in your workplace?
My most notable achievement has been improving our air conditioning at my workplace. I was constantly talking to my manager about it not working properly and stayed on top of discussions after the repairs to ensure it was fixed.
5. What have you enjoyed about being a Delegate most so far?
I have enjoyed helping my co-workers, listening to any problems, and making sure everything is resolved.
6. What do you aim to achieve in your workplace in the next 12 months?
In the next 12 months I want to sign up more members to the Union. I have already signed up 4, with only 1 more to make my goal of 5. I challenge others to get out and try recruiting in your stores, as it is easy to achieve if you put your mind to it.
7. What do you get most out of the role as a Delegate?
I enjoy being a union Delegate as I get to encourage other to join, growing the union. I also enjoy working with other members to make a safe and better workplace that is union strong!
