Josh Peak

Secretary

Josh Peak has been Secretary of the SDA since 2019 and has driven campaigns for fair retail trading hours in South Australia, new public holidays in the the Northern Territory, stronger protections against customer abuse and free parking in SA.

Josh started out in retail working at Foodland when he was 15 where his employer forced him to sign an Australian Workplace Agreement (AWA). He joined the SDA to campaign against the WorkChoices laws that stripped workers of their rights.

He started working at the SDA in 2008 as an Organiser, working to grow the union and help members to resolve workplace issues.

Josh served on the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) Executive from 2009-2015 and is a current member of the Australian Labor Party National Executive.
