In a massive win for Chemist Warehouse workers, the Fair Work Commission has rejected Chemist Warehouse’s bid to overturn the SDA’s landmark win to grant Chemist Warehouse workers the right to bargain.

In December 2025, the SDA won a landmark case to give hundreds of Chemist Warehouse workers the right to negotiate an Enterprise Agreement – the first time this has happened at Chemist Warehouse.

With the company’s appeal now formally dismissed, this confirms that Chemist Warehouse workers do have the right to bargain.

Chemist Warehouse is Australia’s biggest pharmacy retailer. Despite this, they only pay their workers the minimum amount required and don’t give workers any say on their pay or conditions.

This bargaining decision covers over 300 workers across 13 South Australian stores, including pharmacy assistants and pharmacists.

The SDA is now calling on Chemist Warehouse to get serious about bargaining and to negotiate wages and conditions that reflect the billions of dollars generated by the network.

The SDA will now pursue further applications across the Chemist Warehouse network to ensure pharmacy workers elsewhere can access the same opportunity to bargain for a fair deal.
