In an historic result, ALDI workers in South Australia have voted to reject the ALDI Regency Park Enterprise Agreement.

ALDI Stores put their agreement to a vote for a second time after again failing to listen to workers concerns and reach agreement with the SDA Union.

Workers and the SDA have been calling for ALDI to provide a new offer that:

  • Guarantees wage increases each year
  • Provides better job security and certainty of hours
  • Address workload concerns
  • Drops ALDI’s plan to introduce casual workers
  • Drops ALDI’s plan to cut new young workers pay with new junior rates

ALDI have refused to budge.

And now workers have sent them a message again: it’s just not good enough.

South Australian workers in ALDI stores and distribution were the first to ever reject an ALDI agreement in May this year, and now they’ve done it again.

Quotes attributable to SDA Secretary Josh Peak:
“German owned billion-dollar company ALDI, continues to treat their South Aussie workers with contempt.”

“Their plan to cut wages, casualise the workforce and ignore workers calls for wage increases, secure rosters and improved workload has failed again.”

“South Australian ALDI workers have stood tall and sent the retail giant a clear message.”

Quotes attributable to ALDI worker Matthew Stephen:
“As ALDI workers we work incredibly hard. We don’t have enough staff for how busy we are as it is. ALDI isn’t even offering guaranteed pay rises. On top of that they want to be able employ new young workers on lower pay.”

“All we’re asking for is for ALDI to treat us with respect, recognise how hard our jobs are, and give us a fair offer.”

“I hope that ALDI can work with the SDA to reach an agreement that properly recognises the hard work of all ALDI workers in South Australia.”
