The SDA has lodged a Work Health and Safety dispute against Myer over the use of Myer Metrics – a digital system that uses customer feedback to rate workers’ service and performance.
We’re concerned about how Myer Metrics results are then being used unfairly to coach and performance manage workers.
Over the last few months, SDA members have reported serious concerns about how Myer Metrics is being used, and the impact it is having on their mental health.
Our survey of Myer workers found that:
- 85% believe Myer Metrics is a psychosocial hazard.
- 75% believe they or their colleagues have had negative mental health outcomes due to Myer Metrics.
This system is causing undue stress and anxiety.
The way Myer Metrics is being used is a psychosocial hazard that is posing a significant risk to workers’ mental wellbeing.
Providing a safe workplace is a legal obligation, not an option, and your psychosocial safety at work is just as important as your physical safety.
We’ve taken this to the South Australian Employment Tribunal to seek that Myer takes appropriate action and ensures its workforce’s safety in every way.
Our dispute is in progress, and we are keeping members at Myer updated on this.
Concerned about your safety at work?
All employers have a legal obligation under the Work Health and Safety Act to provide you with a safe workplace. If there is a hazard in your workplace, they must work to eliminate or minimise any risks to your safety.
If you are concerned about your safety at work, report it confidentially to the SDA.
