After extensive negotiations with the company, the SDA has secured the first-ever Enterprise Agreement for National Pharmacies workers – and it’s now ready for National Pharmacies workers to consider.
This was only possible because of the work of the SDA and SDA members in South Australia. Workers stood together to demand the Company to negotiate, and we were successful in bringing National Pharmacies to the bargaining table.
What does this Agreement mean for me?
Currently, workers at National Pharmacies’ wages and conditions are outlined in the Pharmacy Industry Award. If approved by workers, this Agreement will replace the Pharmacy Award and outline their entitlements at work for the next four years.
What’s in the Agreement?
This Agreement will cover Pharmacy employees and students, Dispensary Technicians, Optical employees and Beauty employees.
It will lock in improved pay and conditions for 4 years including:
- An improved classification structure resulting in significantly higher wages for most employees
- Improved allowances
- Increased minimum hours for part-timers
- Better work/life balance
- A better dispute clause

When can National Pharmacies workers vote?
They’ll have the chance to vote on this Agreement from Friday June 26 to Friday July 3. This will be conducted via an electronic ballot.
If a majority (of the employees who vote) vote in favour of the Agreement, it will then go to the Fair Work Commission for approval.
