Cheap as Chips has announced that the business (Palcove Pty Ltd) has been placed into Voluntary Administration and that most stores have been sold to Choice the Discount Store.
The SDA is here to support all Cheap as Chips workers during this time.
Under the terms of the Sale Agreement, the Purchaser has agreed to purchase 44 stores. We expect that the new owner will offer employment to current employees working at the 44 stores they have purchased.
What’s happening to Cheap as Chips workers’ entitlements?
Cheap as Chips workers’ pay and conditions as negotiated under the Cheap as Chips Agreement will continue to apply – even under the new owner.
In addition, employee entitlements such as annual leave and personal leave will be transferred to the new employer.
The SDA has met with Cheap as Chips to discuss this transition and its impact on workers.
Up until the new owner takes over each store, the Administrators will continue to employ staff and process your pay.
We know this may be a difficult time for Cheap as Chips workers and we are here to provide assistance.
