The SDA has commenced negotiations for a national Enterprise Agreement at McDonald’s.
This is the first time in seven years that all workers at McDonald’s are getting a say on their pay and conditions at work. It’s only happening because the SDA and union members stood up and fought for the right to have their say.
What is the SDA’s role in negotiations?
The SDA will be representing all McDonald’s workers in negotiations and pushing to secure the best possible outcomes for workers.
We have been speaking with thousands of McDonald’s workers to hear about what they’d like to see improved or changed in terms of their wages and entitlements at work.
We’ve put together an ambitious agenda to improve pay and conditions for all McDonald’s workers based on their feedback.
Our key priorities include:
- Higher rates of pay
- A better classification and pay structure
- Improved rostering rights
- Higher junior rates of pay
- 15 minute tea breaks
- Stronger protections for school-aged workers

What’s next?
We will be meeting with McDonald’s again soon to continue discussions.
Negotiations can be an extensive process. The SDA will be seeking to deliver our key priorities and secure an Agreement as soon as practicable.
Once an Agreement is drafted and finalised, it will be presented to workers in full and you will have the chance to vote on it.
