Health and Safety Rep Training

The SDA partners with SA Unions – the premier training provider for worker-focused HSR training - to deliver HSR Level 1 training for SDA HSRs.

Through the 5-day Level 1 Course Knowing the Laws, HSRs are trained on how to make your workplaces safer and navigate the South Australia Work Health and Safety Act 2012, Work Health and Safety Regulations and state/national resources to get safety outcomes when dealing with your employer and WHS committees.
The Level 1 Course covers:
  • Interpreting the work health and safety (WHS) legislative framework and its relationship to the HSR
  • Identifying key parties, legislative obligations and duties
  • Establishing representation in the workplace
  • Participating in consultation and issue resolution
  • Representing members in the WHS risk management process undertaken by the PCBU
  • Issuing a provisional improvement notice and directing the cessation of work
