The SDA has lodged a groundbreaking application at the Fair Work Commission to open the door to enterprise bargaining to hundreds of Chemist Warehouse workers.
As Australia’s largest pharmacy retailer, Chemist Warehouse generates billions in sales each year across more than 500 stores.
Despite this, they only pay their workers the minimum amount required and don’t give their 8000 workers a voice on their pay, rostering rights, breaks or other conditions at work.
Currently, pharmacy retail workers have no access to bargaining and no ability to negotiate over their pay and conditions.
Chemist Warehouse workers deserve better.
What our application is about
Hundreds of workers have come forward and told us they want to have their voice heard when it comes to wages and entitlements.
The SDA is pursuing a Single Interest Employer Authorisation at the Fair Work Commission, seeking to negotiate an Enterprise Agreement for hundreds of Chemist Warehouse workers in South Australia.
If successful, our application will give over 300 workers at 16 stores the right to negotiate their pay and conditions together.
If our application is successful, the SDA will look to expand enterprise bargaining rights to all workers.
We want to fundamentally transform the pay and conditions of Chemist Warehouse workers, and other workers in the pharmacy retail sector.

What we’ll be fighting for:
Wages that reflect the skills and pharmacy-specific responsibilities
Improved job security and reduced casualisation
Other improvements that matter to our members
