The SDA has now filed our submission to the Fair Work Commission’s Annual Wage Review.
We’re calling for better wages and a genuine living wage for SDA members – you need and deserve a fair and decent pay rise in 2025.
Our submission highlights how important a pay rise is to address the cost of living but also how challenging secure housing is – whether it’s rental accessibility and affordability or owning a home.
Thank you to the SDA members who filled out our survey – we’ve used your feedback to help demonstrate to the Commission why you need a pay rise.
Labor Government supports increase to wages
Under the current Labor Government, wages have finally started to grow after a decade of low wages under the previous Liberal Government.
We must ensure real wage growth continues as cost of living is still putting SDA members under financial pressure.
The Labor Government have also filed a submission to the Annual Wage Review arguing for a real pay rise for workers.
When will the decision be made?
The Fair Work Commission will now consider the submissions put forward by unions, employer groups and others.
Remember, employer lobby groups consistently argue for little to no increases to wages.
That’s why we’re running a strong campaign to get you a pay rise.
The decision is generally handed down in late May or early June with any increase applying from 1 July.
The SDA will continue to keep you up to date with any progress.
